Finding Inspiration

Have you ever sat at your scrapping desk, table, or wherever you are, looked at all of your pictures, your supplies, and thought ... "I'm drawing a blank?" Here are a few ideas to get you in the mode of great creating.

Think of your Favorite stories. Who is not forever wisped away into the fairy tales of your child hood? Big dragons, prince charmings, magic potions, all of the drama you were caught up in in your childhood imagination. OK, maybe our life now is not a fairy tale, but let that inspire you. Take a picture, look at it and see which fairy tale comes to mind. Maybe it is your 40th birthday (OK, mine is looming on me this year). I am thinking that I am blessed, and I have a great life. I also have a sense of humor. Maybe I will scrap my 40th birthday with me as a princess, and I will have my prince charming by my side. I can use humor in the page too, as in dirty dishes in the sink behind me, and a java in one hand.

Another Fairy tale could be the treasures your child brings to you. I know My son was FASCINATED with rocks. He would always bring me a pretty rock or two. (I have some scratches in my dryer due to some of his prize rocks being left in his pockets.) I think a cute scrapbook page would be Riley with some of his "prize rocks" posing by a big beanstalk, and the rocks would be his "magic beans."

Another inspiration is the changes in your life, or the life of your child. Take a look at a picture that shows a child that had always had a baby face, and all of the sudden you see a grown up expression. Use that expression to capture your feelings for that child. Take time to journal your feelings on them growing up, and your hopes for them. Capture your feelings right now, either in your life, or the life of the child. Journaling is SO important, because you can capture feelings and events that otherwise you could forget. Be sure to take the time to journal.

Another great inspiration is the funny things your children, your grandchildren, nieces, or nephews may say. There are SO many cute phrases that you can capture with a cute shot of the child, and a little journaling. I never want to forget how my son used to say "Smile me mommy" instead of "Take my picture." We would always tell him to smile, so hence, the camera was used to "Smile him." I loved listening to little songs my kids would sing, and wouldn’t it be fun to type up the funny way they pronounce the words, with a cute picture of them singing. This is a way to capture moments in time. You cant forget to take a picture of the Spiderman pajamas they have to wear day and night, or the favorite dress you keep trying to throw away, but your little girl keeps digging it out of the garbage, and putting it back on. How about a snip of their favorite blankie, with a picture of them asleep wrapped in it with a thumb in the mouth.

Think of what is most important to you. Does your husband love technology and computers? Capture him enthralled at the screen. Does your daughter love to dance around in her leg warmers and boxers? Snap a shot. Go to your child’s job, and take a shot of them interacting with customers. Use your imagination, and you will have memories that last a life time!
