There are many ways to make your pages shimmer and shine. I am going to give you a few fun examples using a great medium for your scrapbooking pages: Pearlized Powders.

I use the beautiful, iridescent powders that come in many different colors. I really like the Pearl-ex powder.

One idea is to take mulberry paper, and the Pearl-ex, and combine them to make a beautiful textured page rich with almost a surreal effect. Layer torn blue mulberry paper on a black piece of card stock. Take one of your sponges, and apply Versamark ink onto the mulberry paper, then put a light dusting of the Pearl-ex powder. The watermark ink acts as an adhesive, and when the pearl ex sticks to the torn mulberry paper, it is a wonderful effect.

Another idea is to add some shine to your vinyl stickers. Using the Versamark, you can sponge the stickers then dust the pearl ex powder to it, making sure you blow off all the excess powder that did not stick. With both of these examples, make sure you spray a fixatives on the page to have everything stay and not smear.

Embellish your shiny pages with shiny wire, brads, and silver buttons to keep with the shimmery theme. Use copper, silver or gold gel pens to do your journaling and that adds even more pop to the page.

Vellum is a great paper to use with the Pearl-ex powder as well. You can transfer images that are made with the pearl ex on stickers to vellum by laying Scotch tape over the images, rubbing firmly, and lifting up the image with the tape. Lay the tape on the vellum and rub again. Gently peel back the tape to finish.

You can also stamp with Peal-ex. Again, you use the Versamark ink pad to rubber stamp you image on your paper. Take a paint or stipple brush, and lightly brush some Pearl-ex powder of various colors, or one solid across the image. Remember to blow the excess off. There are also Versamark pens, that are wonderful to write with, then add the Pearl-ex to the text or title you write. Please make sure the powders are set with a fixative spray when you complete your scrapbook page.
