Scrap It Fast

Are you overwhelmed with the large amount of photos you have to scrapbook? Do you have only a limited time in your hectic schedule to do your scrapbooking? We are going to give you some quick and easy and great tips to put together some amazing pages in a very short amount of time. Don't worry, your pages will still look wonderful.

Before you even begin a page, make sure you know these three important things about the page you are starting: color, content, and scale. Once you have these figured our, it only takes a few minutes to put together your scrapbook layout.

When thinking of color, take a look at the pictures, or the set of pictures you will be using. Make sure you select paper and embellishments that compliment your subject, as well as the theme you choose for the page.

Your content consists of your photos, and the message or feeling you are going to capture in your layout. Think of what you want for a title, and what type of journaling you will use on the page.

Scale is next in line for this scrapbook page. Are you working with a 12 by 12 layout, or are you doing a small 6 by 6 layout for a small book? Your design will look much nicer and your project will actually come together quickly if you have what's needed in the way of scale in your mind. Make sure your page embellishments, photos, and title are right for the look and feel you are trying to project.

Now you can arrange your layout. There are many ways you can layout one scrapbook page, but you wont know which you like best until you start scrapbooking. At this point, there are tips to help speed up the cropping experience.

Here are some tips: Use big embellishments to get you to the finish line faster. Try using large foam images, over sized letters and large flowers and patterns. Buy self adhesive embellishments. These make scrapping fast, clan, and simple. Add touches on the edges of your page elements with acrylic paint, sandpaper, a touch of ink or an edge distresser. If you keep a piece of sandpaper handy while you put together your pages, you can do a quick distress here and there. Brads added here and there are a quick and easy embellishment that adds polish to a page. Remember your sewing machine to sew things on a page quicker than you can glue them. Staples are a quick and easy way to attach items on your page, and they give a fresh look to the layout as well.

Adding a top, a side, or a bottom border to a page, add unity to a page, as well as adding a quick anchor to a page. You can use a strip of paper, a decorative tape, a ready made border strip, a rubber stamp border wheel with ink, or even ribbon.

Large circles are a great spot for journaling, putting your title on your page, or even adding your embellishments to your page on the circle. Circle cutters are a great tool for scrapbooking, and a cut circle can make a quick, large statement.

You can pick your focal picture, mat it, and layer a few supporting pictures around this main picture. Add some photo corners, an embellishment or two, and you have an attractive, easy and very quick page.

Photo collages are a quick and easy page. You can use lots of photos on these cropped pages, and you can make the layout simple by cross-mirroring equal-sized photos and journaling across the page.

Try setting a timer, and making sure you have all of your materials organized, labeled and within reach. Give yourself a set amount of time, and when the timer goes off, you are finished for the day. I give myself one hour a week to just scrapbook. Many of you have more time, but this is my minimum time and that is a great break for me, plus I am accomplishing quite a bit in that hour and still have time for my 5 children, my full time job and my honey. It works!
